if you want me to

This is a classic favorite of mine, and through the past few difficult weeks, it has carried my heart into arms of hope.  Music in itself is powerful, but when coupled with honest lyrics has the capability of healing - this song has gripped me, wounded my flesh, and soothed my spirit.  I trust You, Jesus. You have never once left my heart alone.

If You Want Me To
by Ginny Owens

The pathway is broken and the signs are unclear
And I don't know the reason why You brought me here
But just because You love me the way that You do
I'm gonna walk through the valley
If You want me to

No I'm not who I was when I took my first step
And I'm clinging to the promise You're not through with me yet
So if all of these trials bring me closer to You
Then I will walk through the fire
If You want me to

It may not be the way I would have chosen
When You lead me through a world that's not my home
But You never said it would be easy
You only said I'll never go alone

So when the whole world turns against me and I'm all by myself
And I can't hear You answer my cries for help
I'll remember the suffering Your love put You through
And I will walk through the darkness
If You want me to

Cause when I cross over Jordan, I'm gonna sing, gonna shout
Gonna look into your eyes and see you never let me down
So take me on the pathway that leads me home to You
And I will walk through the valley
If You want me to

  1. Thank you for this post. The Lord gave me this song 7 years ago but today i hear it again with addition to the last verse, which gives it new light for such a time as this. Am drawn to tears as I'm seeking God to speak. Friend, if you'd pray for me, I'd be grateful. And if He puts something on ur heart, do share :)

    1. I took some time to intercede for you (and know that the door is always open if you need prayer for anything).. there is one thing that He strongly laid upon my heart: He will never leave your heart alone. [right here, I began writing more, and it turned into a very long paragraph, so I decided to make it a post in itself, because it started to encourage me too...] Sister, your heart matters; your aches matter, your feelings matter, your thoughts matter. And you are prayed for. New post will be up soon :)

  2. Thanks Friend. Do continue to pray, through this week. Will need it. Am in a difficult place and need direction and clarity. Waiting for God to confirm what he's laid on my heart already just to make sure it's His voice. Love the post.

    1. Most definitely will pray that you hear and recognize the voice of the Good Shepherd, that He sings songs of deliverance and peace over you while He guides you. I trust that the peace of God will guard your heart and your mind from doubt and confusion. and because He is faithful, there will always be grace for whatever route you take. I'll also pray for increased trust and increased faith, and for the right, unquestionable confirmations.
Btw, though the post was somewhat directed to deal with loss, it stemmed from wanting to encourage you to let the struggle keep you before the throne.. be strong, take heart, and wait for the LORD. :)
